Robert McCleery, a career Navy man, was appointed Chief Engineer aboard the U.S.S. Wabash and detailed to Port Royal Harbor as part of the South Atlantic Blockading fleet during the Civil War. His collection contains routine paperwork concerning the maintenance of federal ships involved in blockading Charleston and Port Royal Harbors, S.C.
